Stenocactus is a solitary plant (or rarely branching) closely covered with very long spines and wavy ribs. This is a very variable species that now includes many form (previously considered independent species) with one form intergrading into another, creating a taxonomig nightmare. It is one of the Echinofossulocactus with the prettiest spination. Pale pink flowers will form in late winter

Very slow growing. Can grow up to 20cm tall and 10cm wide in 10 to 20 years

Position
Full sun or partially shaded. Best under protected partially shaded positions outdoors. Indoors only in sunny positions otherwise they will lose their nice shape in growth. Can be kept in small pots for many years. Flowering will only occur in good light. Will tolerate light frosts. Must be kept out of rain

Low. Requires good draining succulent soil. Water when almost dry in summer and seldom in winter
