Adaptable, low-maintenance, hardy - cast iron plants is one of the most common house plants. This beginner plant has large, bold foliage that adds softness and green to any living spaces. It can survive deep shade, such as, bedroom corners and dim hallway that receive almost no natural light. This almost indestructible plant thrives in very hot, dry summers and can tolerate cold winters.
The only things to avoid with cast iron plants is over-watering in a low light conditions or direct afternoon sunlight. Its leaves will yellow, brown and die. However, it is astounding how cast iron plants can recover from its rhizomes despite a lack of water in a long period of time.
What plant lovers find interesting on Aspidistra is that they often have arbitrary stripes of variegation (zones of colours) on its leaves.
